Prevx Offers Free PC Security Packs To SMBs

Prevx, a UK developer of anti-malware software, is offering free Prevx1 Business Starter packs to companies with 25-250 employees. This group is considered the most vulnerable to PC security attacks because smaller businesses often lack fundamental security on their PCs and networks.

Companies interested in the offer can visit http://www.prevx.com/startnow to receive a year’s protection for up to 5 PCs. The offer closes on 1 February 2007.

The Prevx1 IT security product can work alongside current anti-virus software with no conflicts or can be used as a standalone product. Installation takes only a few minutes and doesn’t require users to uninstall any other anti-virus or anti-spyware software.

Prevx1 detects and eradicates viruses, worms and other forms of malware using real-time data gathered from its community of over 500,000 computers. This data is used to recognise the genetics and behaviour of over 200,000 new programs a day. On average, over 7,000 of these are found to be malicious.

Prevx Ltd recently won the “Cool Vender” award from Gartner Research. Unlike traditional security products which identify malicious code by its “signature”, Prevx’s Community Intrusion Prevention system identifies malicious code by its behaviour. It is then able to neutralise whole classes of malware before it ever has a recognised signature.
