Digital switch over - ITV1 Border area heralds the new dawn in digital TV

by Analoguesat

A very special hello to anyone living in the ITV Border region. A reminder to you - digital switch over starts in our region (*) in mid 2008 when the Selkirk transmitter and its dependant relays are changed over and analogue is shut down. Caldbeck in Cumbria will follow in early 2009.Â

If you live in the Borders and are still watching 4 or 5 channels you really need to start thinking about your options . These are effectively Freeview or Satellite in the Borders - cable has such a small penetration its effectively not available. If you are confused pop into the forum, ask some questions and we will try and give you some sensible advice - or at least point you in the right direction to find some answers if we cant help directly.

(*) I can accurately say “our region” as I live & work in the small Borders town of Galashiels. Therefore I am am in a unique position to report for the “Satellite Help” forum on the news and inevitable chaos that will ensue in the days around analogue switch off.

I am actually quite looking forward to the big event - we are completely wired for digital here now and its a rare day when we switch back to analogue for anything (our outside tv antenna got damaged during heavy snowfall a few years ago and I never got round to fixing it!) As the antenna is damaged our analogue reception is lousy..

Keep an eye on the forum - I’ll be publishing kit lists, ideas etc over the next 18 months to help anyone in our lovely area change over to digital successfully.
