Sophos Launches Anti-Virus for Windows Mobile
by Janet Harris
Sophos has announced – ‘Sophos Mobile Security‘ – an anti-virus product for Windows Mobile.
Sophos Mobile Security provides immediate protection from mobile viruses and spyware for Windows Mobile 5.0 based devices, and allows IT administrators to implement and lock down central security policies for PDAs and smart phones across an enterprise.
The product protects devices from malware attacks via MMS, SMS, e-mail, instant messaging, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, helping to keep business communications secure.
The product is easy to install and configure, and offers on-access, on-demand, or scheduled scanning. It also detects and detains any mobile viruses or spyware without compromising device performance.
‘Sophos Mobile Security’ is supported by Sophos Behavioral Genotype Protection technology, which blocks new and unknown mobile threats before they execute. Network administrators are alerted with real-time notification of malware incidents, allowing threats to be monitored and neutralised.
‘Sophos Mobile Security’ supports Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC Edition and Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC Phone Edition. It will also protect devices using Windows Mobile 6.0, which will be launched by Microsoft later in 2007.
