There is a new IPTV player in town. Verismo Networks is introducing ViPTV, and end-to-end broadcasting system. The new service will come with a set-top box that will allow consumers to download content over their standard broadband connection. It will also allow for stream videos from websites like Google, YouTube, and Yahoo.
The cost for the IPTV service has not yet been announced.
Verismo ViPTV is completing its beta tests and looking for provider partners that are interested in creating IPTV channels for their subscribers. It will include Microsoft Digital Rights Manager for security on content. It will offer content delivery servers on the backend.
The IPTV servers will format content to Windows Media Video. They will perform pre-process filtering to reduce noise and sharpen images. They will also have user friendly features that will allow providers to insert chapters, subtitles, and advertising content.
The IPTV system developed by Verismo Networks is an exciting addition to the industry. It accelerates downloads, handles recovery from bad connections with ease, and even does additional filtering to increase the quality of the video.
One of the more interesting features of this IPTV system is the ability of a viewer to begin playback before the completion of a download. This means that there is no more wait for the entire video to completely download.
