Mobiola turns Symbian phone into webcam

Warelex LLC, a leading mobile application developer, has produced a download which turns a Symbian smartphone into a high-quality webcam.

The company’s Mobiola Web Camera software, which is designed for easy installation, comprises two components: a client application which is installed on the smartphone; and a webcam PC driver.

The software is compatible with any Windows application that can receive video feeds from a web camera including Skype, Yahoo, MSN, AOL IM, ICQ messangers, www.YouTube.com, www.MySpace.com and www.grouper.com.

Connectivity is via USB or Bluetooth but Warelex plans to release a WiFi version soon. It is also developing a Windows Mobile version.

A one-week free trial version is available which limits single connections to 5 minutes.
