MagnaChip Semiconductor recently launched two new high-performance CMOS image sensors for mobile phone cameras.
The first of these is the MC521EA, a 1/4″ optical format 2 megapixel (1600 x 1200) CMOS sensor with integrated advanced image processing, one time programmable, non-volatile memory enabling unique module serialisation and calibration, a MIPI (Mobile Industry Process Interface) port and GPIOs, which can be used to support autofocus and other camera functions.
The MC521EA also has an integrated ARM7TDMI core that can be programmed with different algorithms for auto-function control.
The second new sensor is the MC511EA, a 1/5″ optical format 1.3 megapixel (1280 x 1024) CMOS sensor that offers the same advanced image processing and control functions as the MC521EA and enables modules as small as 6x6x4mm.
This sensor’s small size and its support for a single 2.8V power supply and low power consumption, will allow OEMs to address market demand for slim and cost-efficient industrial designs.
