Panasonic first with 12.2mp and 28mm wide-angle

Panasonic has added to its LUMIX range of digital cameras with the introduction of the slim and lightweight LUMIX DMC-FX100.

The LUMIX DMC-FX100 is the first camera in the world to feature 12.2 megapixel resolution with a 28mm wide-angle lens. The camera has a 2.5-inch LCD screen.

The LEICA DC lens has 3.6x optical zoom, f/2.8 brightness, 1/1.72-inch large CCD and Intelligent Image Stabilization with Mega O.I.S. and Intelligent ISO Control.

The camera features Intelligent Image Stabilization which incorporates advanced countermeasures against blurring – MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization) and Intelligent ISO Control.

These features compensate for the effects of hand-shake and image movement, making it easier to take clear, crisp photos.

The DMC-FX100 has a flash which reaches up to 16 meters. It provides consecutive shooting at shots per second and a new high sensitivity mode in which ISO 6400 recording is realised.

The camera can record 1920 x 1080 high-definition still pictures and 1280 x 720 at 15 frames per second motion pictures, both ideal for viewing on 16:9 High Definition Plasmas.

The LUMIX DMC-FX100 is expected to be available in July 2007.
