Ocean Blue calls for single PVR standard

Ocean Blue Software, a member of the Digital TV Group, the industry association for digital television in the UK, has called for a single standard for Digital TV recorders, also called Personal Video Recorders.

The company wants a single brand extending across all platforms – IPTV, satellite and cable – in order to simplify the market for consumers.

At the moment the market is fragmented and there is a lack of industry standard guidelines. Most PVR products contain proprietary software.

The company believes that the introduction of a single PVR standard would create consumer confidence and increase take-up of the new technology.
