Belfast becomes wireless city

by Jan Harris

Belfast has joined BT’s UK-wide Wireless City programme.

BT engineers have now completed the installation of wi-fi equipment in the city and the network will go live shortly.

Citizens and visitors to Belfast will have wireless broadband access, no matter where they are in the city centre.

Belfast is the latest city to join BT’s Wireless City Programme – wi-fi has already been rolled out to London (Westminster and Waltham Forest), Birmingham, Newcastle, Liverpool and seven other UK cities.

The new technology will help to meet growing demand in Belfast for wi-fi connectivity, and provide the capability to access email, gaming and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technology whilst on the move.
