Despite a huge rise in viewing figures for IPTV, around 16% in the past six months. It would appear that digital and terrestrial viewing figure have not been affected.
This is a surprise as an increase like 16% is pretty huge, but it is believed that the increase is due to people viewing IPTV on their journeys to and from work, or in fact at work, there are studies that have found that there is big increase in people viewing IPTV while at work. So it would appear that the figure of 16% has not come off of the digital and terrestrial TV figures. But should actually be added to the combined total of TV and IPTV, this would give a much better idea of the actual figures involved.
It is going to take very long time for the battle lines to be drawn in the war between TV and IPTV, if there is ever a war at all. There will always be those who stick to normal TV. After all there are still households who do not subscribe to digital or satellite TV and those who completely stay away from the internet too, it will take a lot of persuasion to even get those people to look at the internet and IPTV.
