Sky News has made its news flagships channel Sky News which offers reputability the best 24 hour news service in the UK, to the IPTV start up provider Jalipo.
Jalipo have a unique slant on the way that IPTV will be viewed and of course paid for. They propose to charge by the minute for viewing any number of channels, which range from movies, documentaries and the news channels.
Sky had to make their service available simply because their main UK rival BBC News 24 are already with Jalipo, so it would appear that they had no choice.
The charging system is made by the consumer purchasing J: Credits, they would need to open an account in order to buy these credits, there is good news though, when an account is open the consumer will be given 200 free credits in order to try the system out first, good idea!
The actual charges per minute are hard to calculate, but a company insider has been known to have said, that if they worked out how much SKY was costing per minute, then the charges that are made by Jalipo would be five times less. However this is hard to justify because it would depend on how much the consumer watches, and if they are a family the charges could mount up very quickly indeed.
