Canon unveils HG10: world's smallest HD camcorder
by Janet Harris

Canon has announced the HG10 full high definition camcorder, claiming that it is the smallest on the market.
The HG10 is an AVCHD camcorder with, unusually for Canon, a 40GB internal hard disc. The company usually favours tape or DVD. In high quality mode the HG10 offers around 5.5 hours of recording time.
Other features include 10x optical zoom lens, Super Range Optical Image Stabilisation and Instant auto-focus.
There is a 2.7″ Widescreen Multi-Angle Vivid LCD for viewing your recordings and Canon has made the device user friendly with its Navigation Control Dial on the LCD panel which gives easy access to the menu.
For more advanced users, the camcorder features a mic jack and an active accessory shoe. It offers manual audio level control, and the AV port doubles as a headphone jack.
Canon plans to release the camcorder in October, priced at $1299. It will come with Corel’s AVCHD editing suite included.
