by Janet Harris

The PDP-LX508D KURO model from Pioneer has been voted the best full HD 1080p plasma in Europe by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA).
The voting panel comprised 50 editors from leading European consumer electronics magazines.
The selected the PDP-LX508D KURO for a number of factors including plasma picture quality, exceptional black level depth, improvements to panel, filter and electronics and attention to picture processing.
They also commented on the set’s ability to reproduce high definition movies in their original format of 24 frames per second.
Pioneer developed the PDP-LX508D KURO over ten-years, with the aim of producing a screen which delivers the best picture quality in the world
The result is a flat screen TV, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, which allows users to see film exactly how filmmakers intend it to be seen.
The name KURO means black in Japanese and one of the key features of Pioneer’s KURO range is its deep black levels – up to 80% deeper than other flat-screen TVs on the market. This produces pure colours and fast moving image clarity.
The model also benefits from Intelligent Brightness Control, which automatically controls brightness to suit the light conditions in the room.
