Janet Harris

IPTV networking company Exterity has lauched idaptor, a new TriplePlay receiver which delivers and receives internet, TV and telephony to any end point across a local area network.

The idaptor is designed for use by hotels, educational facilities and large companies who wish to connect existing TVs and displays to their network infrastructure to provide TriplePlay services.

The idaptor simply plugs into any end point, transforming it into a multi-media centre which provides access to the Internet, IPTV, radio, video on demand and VoIP telephone calls.

It provides a means of expanding a network infrastructure without the costs associated with laying down additional cabling.

Idaptor is designed with ease of installation and use in mind. Its plug and ensures that the device can automatically pick-up and learn the available IPTV channels, making deployment easy.

The box comes fully-loaded with a customisable channel selection interface, splashscreen, and support of HTML-based digital signage, allowing the user to personalise and manage content.

Securing brackets are also included, reducing the risk of theft.

The idapter TriplePlay receiver is able to decode both MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 video stream to composite, S-video, RGB or component video output.

Exterity is based in Edinburgh, UK.
