BT Vision Sports enabled with Motorola's VODxchange

Motorola, Inc’s VODxchange encoding capability was used by BT as part of its IPTV solution, helping to successfully launch BT Vision Sport, a next-generation IPTV sports service for UK consumers.

BT Vision Sport represents the first time such unique sports production has been provided in the UK via IPTV. Motorola’s technology was key to its successful and rapid deployment.

The service, which was launched 11th August 2007, provides BT broadband subscribers will on-demand coverage of the day’s premiership action.

From 10pm on the day of the match, viewers can pause, fast forward and rewind near-live footage of full games.

The implementation of Motorola’s VODxchange solution in the BT Vision Sports service, marks the technology’s first implementation in the UK.

VODxchange provides MPEG-4 encoding on demand, providing the best possible picture quality for the lowest bandwidth. The solution is suitable for both standard and high-definition applications.
