Latens to secure du's IPTV service

Latens, a Northern Ireland based supplier of dynamic, software-based Conditional Access for the secure delivery of content to IP devices and television set-top-boxes, has secured a contract with telco, du, of the United Arab Emirates.

Latens is to protect the Motorola IPTV set-top boxes deployed by du, with its Conditional Access technology, which will be rolled out in the fourth quarter of 2007.

Latens Conditional Access was selected for its advanced technology, functionality and scalability combined with its choice of IPTV CA architecture, which provide flexibility for du’s future IPTV plans.

Over 500,000 customers have already signed up for du’s multilingual IPTV service, which was launched less than a year ago and offers over 100 channels. This respresents over 10% of the United Arab Emirates’ population.

Du provides fixed line, Internet and pay TV services over cable in some of the free zones of Dubai.
