Hungarian telco Invitel plans to launch an IPTV service by the end of this year.
Invitel will initially offer 77 TV channels in basic, expanded and thematic packages, and also a VOD library of 100 titles. The service will comprise part of a triple play offer, and will initially be offered in parts of the country where the telco has exclusivity.
Invitel currently has over 100,000 ADSL subscribers, and anticipates gaining an additional 15,000 customers for the new IPTV service by mid-2008.
Invitel is the brand name for the HTCC Group, which offers voice, data and Internet services in 14 of Hungary’s former 54 concession areas to residential and business customers, covering 21% of the country’s population.
UPDATE: We've just received an email from HTCC stating that details in this report may be incorrect. We're currently clarifying the situation - Brian, Ed.
