ITN in news deal with Joost

ITN’s online division, ITN ON, has secured a deal to provide news, sport and entertainment content to IPTV service Joost.

ITN ON will provide the Joost platform with English Premier League football, a weekly sports news bulletin, called Sports Fix and daily football show EPL.

ITN ON will also provide a new film review programme called Movie Buff, which will feature interviews with Hollywood stars, and On This Day in History, a series of 90-second vignettes of historical events from ITN’s moving image library.

Joost, which was developed by the creators of Skype, provides free online TV from all over the world.

It provides over 15,000 programmes and allows viewers to create their own personalised channel.

Joost has just released its software to the general public after its beta version recorded 50,000 downloads a week.

With open access, it hopes to increase its user base to between two and three million by the end of the year.

Joost implemented some significant enhancements to the service prior to its public launch, including a new navigation system, search, and an open API for third-party widgets.
