Virgin Media to trial Voom HD
Virgin Media is to carry Voom HD over its broadband network, as part of a trial of a 50mbps cable service.

The deal, brokered by channel distributor Chello Zone, represents the first time that Voom HD has been available in the UK. Fifteen Voom channels are available in the US over the Echostar DISH Network and Cablevision’s digital cable service.

The single Voom HD channel is currently available in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.

It features topics such as adventure travel, fashion, luxury lifestyle, art, live concerts, action sports and video gaming.

The new deal extends Virgin’s HD offering, which includes the BBC HD test channel and HD content from Channel 4.

Voom is currently expanding into more markets, with a target of 15 million homes internationally.

It also has a programming deal in place with BSkyB.
