Pioneer launches 60" Kuro

Pioneer launches 60
Pioneer has extended its Kuro line with the PDP-LX608D – a Full HD Kuro set with a 60-inch screen size. The company launched the 42-inch and 50-inch versions earlier this year.

Kuro means black in Japanese and the TVs feature entirely black bezels. More importantly, Pioneer technology is designed to provide deeper and more natural blacks than previously available on a flatscreen TV.

To achieve this level of black, Pioneer has improved the crystal emissive layer which enhances the efficiency of the discharge cycle in each plasma chamber.

It has also created deeper-set plasma chambers which minimise the risk of colour and light cross-contamination, and has enhanced the video processing capability so that bright and dark scenes are handled differently.

The company has also refined the Deep Colour Filter to absorb ambient light.

The LX608D provides support for 1080/24 HD video, a ‘dot by dot’ mode which eliminates overscanning for perfect transposition of Blu-ray and HD DVD material to the TV’s 1920 x 1080 panel, four dedicated noise reduction routines and a USB input.

The three HDMIs are all v1.3 and CEC-enabled, so that the TV’s remote can operate any CEC-capable sources connected to them.
