SiliconSystems, Inc has announced its new SiliconDrive USB Blade – the first ultra-small solid state drive for embedded storage applications.
The postage stamp sized device can store 2GB of data, providing improved storage design flexibility for applications where board space is limited.
SiliconDrive USB Blade is based on the company’s next-generation storage technology platform, including PowerArmor, SiSMART and SiliconDrive Secure technologies.
PowerArmor protects data and drives from host system voltage and power anomalies, while SiSMART is a monitoring system which accurately forecasts storage system useable life to eliminate unscheduled downtime.
SiliconDrive USB Blade is designed to handle shock, vibrations and extreme temperatures.
It features read / write rates of 10MB/sec, and will be released in 512MB and 1GB capacities, as well as the 2GB version.
The device is ideal for uses as a boot drive, for operating system storage or in event and data logging applications.
