Del Monte Foods is standardising its communications system through the installation of AVST’s CallXpress communications system across its UK offices.

The system replaces two Octel voicemails system and will facilitate the planned transition to a company-wide VoIP service.

The Octel systems were reaching the end of their life, and the move has already saved Del Monte around £75,000 a year on maintenance costs.

The company has so far installed five CallXpress systems, which will support 28 facilities and 3,000 users on one enterprise VoIP platform. The systems integrate with a new Cisco Call Manager IP switch.

Fourteen more facilities will be converted over the next two years, taking the number of users to 4,000.

The system allows staff to receive and listen to voicemail messages via their email inboxes or listen to emails over the phone.

The company also uses the system’s automated attendant function to notify plant employees of changing schedules.
