BT Vision secures 60,000 customers

BT had registered 60,000 customers for its BT Vision IPTV service at the end of the 2007 third quarter, in line with its plans to roll out the service.

The launch of BT Vision Sport packages helped the company achieve a tripling in customer numbers.

BT plans to invest £100m on BT vision this year. The service offers more than 70 TV and radio channels, and a variety of on-demand content.

The price of content varies, with 242 near-live Premiership games available for £4-a-month.

BT has recently launched a self install facility, which allows customers to install BT Vision without the need for a £60 visit from an engineer. This is expected to generate further uptake of the service.

The BT Vision Self Install kit is available from high street stores such as Comet, Currys.digital and John Lewis for a one-off connection charge of £30.

The kit comprises a pair of Comtrend Powerline adaptors, which plug into a standard wall sockets and carry the video signal from the BT Home Hub to the HD-ready set-top box.
