Ads for Adobe powered by Yahoo

by Janet Harris

Adobe and Yahoo are jointly launching ‘Ads for Adobe Powered by Yahoo’, a new service which will help web publishers generate advertising revenue from their site.

The service will initially be available in beta, to selected partners only, including IDG InfoWorld, Wired, Pearson’s Education, Meredith Corporation, and Reed Elsevier.

The service will later be rolled out to anyone with an Adobe account and a Yahoo Publisher Network account.

Web publishers upload PDF files to Adobe and when digital content is associated with the publisher for purposes of payment, it is analysed to allow Yahoo to select the most appropriate ads to place in the document.

The document is then ad-enabled and e-mailed back to the publisher to be distributed as the publisher chooses.

Whenever the ad-enabled document is opened, dynamic ads will be displayed in a sidebar to the document if the PDF is being viewed on an Internet-connected device. The ads will not interfere with the layout of the content.

Publishers will be paid per valid click.
