Arqiva distributes content for IPTV Corp. in Europe

IPTV Corporation, an interactive TV company based in Los Angeles, has selected Arqiva as its Direct-To-Home (DTH) content distribution platform for the European market.

Arqiva secured the deal after acquiring two teleports and fibre networks in the United States. The company is now well-positioned to take content from US broadcasters and directly distribute it within Europe.

Once IPTV Corporation’s content leaves its Santa Monica base, Arqiva is responsible for all elements of onward distribution. Arqiva delivers the content via transatlantic fibre to one of its Eurobird multiplexes in the UK.

The content then appears on Sky‘s UK direct-to-home (DTH) platform, as channel 670. IPTV Corporation owns and operates Channel 670 on the BSkyB platform.

Arqiva’s total end-to-end service package provides significant cost-savings for IPTV Corporation, allowing the company to operate virtually as if we were a UK-based broadcaster.

IPTV Corporation’s programming is based on live, real-time auctions combined with live video. It combines TV commerce similar to that found on shopping channels such as QVC, with dynamic pricing mechanisms found on websites such as e-Bay. This brings a competitive element to TV shopping.

Arqiva Limited is based in Winchester, Hampshire.
