Pirated content in the UK

by David Allen

It seems that wherever you go there is a mention of pirated copies, yet nowhere is worse than the internet and UK viewers of some of the worlds most popular shows are getting tempted to see them early by downloading pirated content.

In a survey carried out by Attentional it would seem that around a third of UK viewers would consider downloading a pirated copy of a TV program or film. This figure is quite astonishing and would probably make the hairs stand up on the back of the necks of any TV execs that see it.

It seems that age is a factor in who would consider downloading a pirated copy of a popular programme, the fact that young people have access to the internet and more often than not in the privacy of their own bedroom, means that they can do virtually what they want without having any questions asked of what they are doing.

The most popular programs for downloading are Lost, Hollyoaks, South Park, BBC News, and Heroes, while the popular down load sites are 4oD and Limewire.
