LG Electronics is planning to showcase a 52-inch high-definition TV with a built-in Wi-Fi system at the Consumer Electronics Show, January 7-10 in Las Vegas.
The LG 52LG71 HDTV’s built in 802.11n Wi-Fi will make it possible to stream video or other content from a home computer.
802.11n, the latest version of Wi-Fi, allows a theoretical downstream speed of 300Mbps, six times faster than the previous 802.11g version, providing smooth playback of video with no jerky movements.
The 52LG71 will allow content to be viewed from a computer, which is often in a different room to the television, without the need for wires.
LG is claiming that the 52LG71 is the world’s first 1080p LCD with an integrated 802.11 Wireless System.
