Virgin Media goes easy on heavy users
by David Allen
It’s been the problem with broadband for years, a user gets unlimited access only to find that it is being monitored, and reason why? Because it’s not fair to the other customers. But Virgin Media have a taken a lead on this, by reducing the time that they will be monitoring those users who go over the top with their downloading.
In the new year the hours monitored will be reduced by three hours to take in 16.00 to 21.00, they will be monitoring customers through this period in order to make sure that all customers have fair crack at the network and not just those who want to download huge files all of the time.
Virgin estimate that only three per cent of customers have a direct effect on the other customers these are the customers who will remain to be monitored.
