Standards for IPTV to be introduced
by David Allen
The first global standards for IPTV have been set out by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) these standards have been put together by with the help of industry leaders in both providing the service and by those companies who manufacture the equipment. This move may provide the ITU with the platform to become the industry leader in IPTV development on a global scale.
There will be documents on what the industry needs to standardise the architecture and frameworks needed by all parties in order to provide viable IPTV services. The first work to be done will be the preparation of standards across the industry and what is required from all parties to get this done within certain time frames.
However will this work? The industry will be working with many different companies in different countries that have various levels of telecom infrastructure.
