Freeview continues to push the market
by David Allen
The UK digital market has recorded the second largest quarterly increase since the industry started. These figures come from the Ofcom third quarter Digital Television Progress Report, where they show that the amount of homes that have acquired multi channel television as the main viewing source is set at around twenty two million homes, which on a national scale is just over eighty six per cent of all households, this is an increase of just over one per cent.
But the figure also showed an increase in the amount of homes that have a second multi channel service this has grown to twelve million; this shows a rise of almost fifty per cent on the year so far and is currently growing at around 1.3 million per quarter, which is astonishing.
