US-based SnapTell has developed innovative technology which allows camera phone users to take a picture of an advert and receive money-off vouchers for the product.
The company has launched its first mobile marketing campaign, which gives a discount on wine at Wine Enthusiast’s website.
Camera phone users simply take a photo of the Wine Enthusiast advertisement in the Wall Street Journal, and send it from their phone to SnapTell.
SnapTell’s servers recognize the image and send back a text message coupon with a code for 15 percent off a $100 purchase on Wineenthusiast.com. The coupon is sent within minutes.
There is no need to download any software to use the service, and no bar codes or special images are involved.
SnapTell’s servers can recognise partial pictures and photos which are badly lit, or taken at an awkward angle.
