BSkyB defends £78,500 charge for Rapture

by David Allen

BSkyB just simply cannot stay out of the news these days, and this time the story is about how they charge other channels. In this case Rapture TV is appealing at the Competition Appeal Tribunal in London over the decision by the regulator Ofcom’s decision that BSkyB did not over charge Rapture TV for inclusion in the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG).

But Rapture are arguing that charging a small channel £78,500 a year for the EPG is not fair when the annual turnover the company is only £150,000, this is clearly no good for the small channel as it would not be able to sustain this sort of outgoing. Although it has to be said that is this really BSkyB’s fault?

It would seem that BSyB charge everyone the same, or so they say! That is probably why Ofcom threw out the complaint in the first place.
