The Internet Service Providers’ Association (ISPA), a UK trade association for ISPs, expects to see significant growth in IPTV services in 2008, together with advances in broadband provision.
The association also expects business technologies, such as VoIP and video conferencing, to be used more in the home in 2008.
The growing demand for high-quality online TV is expected to encourage broadband providers to upgrade connections. This will ultimately benefit the filesharing, gameplay and IP telephony sectors.
Improvements to broadband will also help drive technological innovation on the content and applications side.
In 2007, uSwitch forecast that 21 million UK households will have an internet connection in 2010, and expects just one million of these connections to be dial-up.
