Vodafone blocks Gay News

by David Allen

Even though the content on the UK Gay News site is mainly made up from articles that appear in reputable newspapers such as the Guardian and the Independent, it is deemed as “Adult” content and therefore has been banned from the Vodafone Network.

Naturally this has upset virtually the whole gay scene, which is a considerable marketplace for some businesses that have seen the potential of being able to market to a precise sector.

On Vodafone’s point of view, they say that they have many children who use their services and therefore the content would be unsuitable for under age children. But it is believed that they must be using software that acts on keywords and automatically blocks sites that contain such words as “Gay” this would be why the sites are blocked.
