Tiscali to launch mobile phone service
by David Allen
The one thing that is missing from Tiscali’s armoury is a mobile phone service, but they are planning to change that this year when they launch their branded service. The company has been in talks with all of the main mobile phone operators in the UK with a view to rent space on one of the networks.
This will be a SIM card only service so the company will not have to worry about service contracts and handsets.
The business will be formed from the Toucan Mobile business which was bought from the internet service provider Pipex, this service has around 7,000 subscribers and uses the T Mobile network. This business is going to be used as the base for this new network; the only problem is developing this into a viable business that will attract new customers.
