Carphone Warehouse in takeover rumours

by David Allen

One of the UK success stories in the broadband and telecommunications sector has to be Carphone Warehouse, certainly they have had some problems, especially when it comes down to their free broadband service, when so many people applied for it, that they were unable to process all of the orders.

But this success has been noted by other companies, like Vodafone and the rumours are coming in thick and fast that a takeover bid could be imminent. This interest has added value to the company share price which have gone up by six per cent.

The founder and chairman Charles Dunstone is sitting pretty too, as he owns a thirty two per cent stake in the company, which would that his holdings would be worth well over £1 billion. But this would be the problem, he is the person behind the company and would it be the same without him at the helm?
