BT buys Dragons Den winner

When Dominic Killinger entered the dragons den everyone was impressed with his idea of high speed internet for boat owners. Square Mile Marina, was founded in 2002, but only really come to the forefront of the business world when it ended up on the entrepreneurs show.

The Chief Executive of Phones International, Peter Jones and The stationary chain Ryman boss, Theo Paphitis invested £150,000 in the company which was just the boost that it needed to expand into the areas that it needed to.

Killinger bought out both of the dragons in 2007, and in true business fashion went on to sell the business to BT Openzone, for a figure that he is unwilling to mention. There is a huge marketplace out there for this type of service, and it is not just those boats that are berthed in the UK marinas, but those who are visiting too.
