The adverts have been running for sometime on a national scale explaining that digital television is taking over and a time table has been set that will see the old analogue signal will be turned off around the country.

But in Manchester where the signal is due to turned off next year, is would appear that the hotels in the city have not started any preparations in order for their guest to see the TV while staying with them. Every television will need to either be supplied with a set top box or receive satellite or cable; if they are still connected to the aerial then no picture will be seen.

It is estimated through surveys taken that almost half of the hotels, B & B’s and caravan sites have done nothing so far to prepare for this change over, it is the smaller businesses that are least likely to be prepared which is probably down to cost alone. In contrast eighty per cent of all homes in the area get digital TV.
