BBC questioned by MP’s
by David Allen

The BBC chairman Sir Michael Lyons looks as if he is going to make a U turn on making the publicly funded body more transparent. There was the possibility that we may have been able to see where al of the cash is going, particularly on the subject on who gets paid what? This is a tricky subject but it would seem to be one of those points that just keep’s popping up every now and then.
Another sticky subject is the funding of the new FreeSat digital satellite service, which is due to be launched sometime in the spring. There are arguments that licence fee payers are entitled to know the sort of contribution that the licence fee will be making towards this free service and yet as with the wages of the corporation’s stars, it would seem that the BBC may not tell anyone about the costs of setting this services up. In fact they the BBC are even thinking of coming out with “Commercial Confidentially” this would mean that the details could remain away from the publics eyes for years to come.
