BBC upsets the local press<br />

The digital revolution is sweeping through the hallowed hall of the BBC, blowing away all of those cobwebs that have accumulated over the years. But as always with change comes some conflict and the BBC’s plans to create a network of 60 very local websites has created much conflict from the regional media.

The local press see this as an all out assault on what they see as their own personal territory, which would initially seem to be a bit paranoid on behalf of the regional presses, who have little or no competition.

But the scale of the operation means that the websites operated by the region press will be directly affected by the BBC’s power and the fact that will be able to advertise these websites on the BBC which is definitely an advantage that they have over everyone else.
