HP launches Ultra-Slim Business Desktop with SSD

HP has launched Compaq dc7800 Ultra-Slim Business Desktop, its smallest enterprise desktop model, with the option of adding a 16GB flash-based solid-state drive (SSD) from SanDisk for an extra $330.

The SSD provided a faster boot time than a conventional hard drive, improved power efficiency and support for tools, including Intel’s vPro, for easier PC management. According to HP, the dc7800 is the first business desktop to include an SSD option. It also provides improved performance and durability.

The Compaq dc7800 measures just 2.60 by 9.90 by 10.0 inches, making it ideal for use where space is limited. A 16G-byte SSD is available with the system, but the storage capacity can be upgraded to 160G byte/

The desktop features Intel’s Core 2 Duo, Celeron D or Pentium processors, Gigabit Ethernet and an integrated Intel graphics media accelerator. A choice of Windows Vista, Windows XP or FreeDos operating systems is available.

The HP Compaq dc7800 is available now, with prices starting from $1,258 with the solid-state drive.

HP is also releasing the HP Compaq dc5800 Business PC, with up to 500G bytes of hard-drive storage, Gigabit Ethernet networking, integrated Intel graphics, a DVD drive and a 16-in-1 media card reader. The Compaq dc5800 will be available in February, priced at $579.
