Toshiba Mobile is entering the UK smartphone market with a three new phones, including a USB modem/VoIP phone hybrid – the G450.
Toshiba is marketing the G450 as a USB broadband modem, which allows the user to browse the web without having to hunt for a WiFi hotspot. It is HSDPA capable, providing fast broadband speeds.
The G450 also doubles as a VoIP handset when plugged into a laptop. Other features include include tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900) with GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA radios, a Qualcomm MSM6280 chipset, 96 x 36 pixel OLED display, 160MB internal memory, dual keypads for dialing, and up to 300 hours of standby (180 minutes talk time).
The G450 modem/phone will be available in the UK in early 2008, along with Toshiba’s Protégé 910, a HSDPA WM6 handset with GPS, and Protégé 710, a WM6 smartphone with built-in GPS.
