Satellite broadband to get Point & Play
by Brian Turner
Newtec has promised to deliver simpler installation of satellite broadband services, using its new “Point & Play” technology.
Point & Play involves an antenna pointing tool, combined with advanced satellite modem software, which allows the installer to easily position the antenna correctly.
Point & Play does not require any computer pointing software, provides correct satellite identification and gives feedback on both signal quality and correct satellite lock.
The new installation tool is provided as part of Newtex’s Sat3Play satellite terminal software, which includes high-speed DVB and DVB S2 modulators, Next Generation DVB RCS-based IP Broadband Access Networks, digital TV and radio distribution networks and interactive Satmode TV networks.
Newtec will provide a live demonstration at the Satellite 2008 show, Washington DC, at the end of this month.
