Interactive TV to fight IPTV
by David Allen

There was a time when iTV was believed to be the best thing that ever happened to the UK’s viewing pleasure but with the advancement of the IPTV service the interactive TV has been losing out to the growing trend of many new users switching over to watching their TV over the internet, this has been made possible due to the increased speeds of the broadband connection.
There is so much concern about this slowdown in consumers pressing the red button, which by the way since its creation in 2003 around thirty seven per cent of people have admitted to actually pressing the red button.
Out of all of the broadcasters Sky are the ones who are pressing for change, they are due to announce changes in the way that their interactive TV is used. In the States when the red button is pressed the current programming is paused and Sky is planning to introduce the green button later on in the year. By pressing the green button subscribers will be able to view additional advertising content, there is no mention of what sort of material this is going to be, but this is another addition to the interactive television offered by Sky and the more consumers use it the better it should become.
