Village completely cut off<br />

There is often news of consumers complaining about the speed of connection for their broadband an how this varies, but maybe they should be sparing a thought for the villagers of Gwytherin, Conwy, in Wales for they have no mobile phone coverage, no broadband and not even any fixed landline telephone service to speak of, they call it the “Black Hole” and there are fears that there will come a time when lives will be put at risk.

The village has had a fault on the telephone line where sometimes it works and on other days there is nothing, BT openreach have been speaking with politicians and the local community with a view of finding an innovative solution to the problem.

The phone system has been called a relic from the 1960’s and the only realistic solution would be to build a mast, this would solve most of the problems, however the locating and building of a phone mast is not as easy at it would seem these days. With the villagers fearing that if there was a medical emergency and the phone was out this could lead to fatal consequences, a quick solution is needed.
