Mobile TV steals the show at 2008 Mobile World Congress

At the 2008 GSMA Mobile World Congress, Taiwan’s top two mobile phone manufacturers – E-Ten Information Systems and Gigabyte Communications – are both placing the most emphasis on showing off their new mobile TV handsets.

E-Ten is showcasing the Glofiish V900, its first 3.5G mobile TV handset, which can receive DVB-H, DVB-T, TDMB and DAB broadcast signals. E-Ten’s display at the exhibition also includes the M810, their new PDA phone with GPS capabilities.

Gigabyte’s display includes their series of Windows Mobile PDA phones with GPS capabilities, including the MS808, 804, 800 and 820.

The MS808 supports the reception of DVB-T, DVB-H, T-DMB and ISDM broadcast signals. It is Gigabyte’s first 3.5G enabled TV mobile phone. The MS804 has a sliding-form factor, and features a cap-sensor digit dial keyboard. The MS820 features a 5 megapixel camera.

Gigabyte is also showcasing its first 3.5G data card at the exhibition, the MD800. The MD800 offers support for 3.5G, GPS/AGPS, mini USB, PCMCIA interfaces and Express Card 34.
