BBC’s Olympic plans questioned<br />

The BBC has once again gone under the House of Commons spotlight for efficiency as they announce their plans for the 2008 Olympics which are held in Beijing, the BBC report that they will sending at least 150 staff over to China to cover the event.

However there has been a call to look into how efficient the corporation is, when the cost of the Olympic coverage is coming in at around £1 million, which would have alright if the corporation had not recently announced 2,500 job cuts on the grounds of saving money. But in their defence during the last Olympic Games in Athens during 2004 the BBC had around 380 members of staff covering the event.

It is estimate that the BBC will be putting on around 2,750 hours of coverage of the events which will be on TV, online and of course the interactive service, the BBC are the only broadcaster to show any coverage so virtually every single piece of action is going to be needed to be shown, plus the studio shows too, it is clear to see where the staff are needed or not all events would be covered.
