Inuk Networks has registered over 40,000 users for its ‘Freewire TV’ IPTV service, which is delivered over 40 UK universities over the JANET high-speed network.
Inuk’s basic Freewire TV service is available free of charge to students and provides 25 entertainment channels, including BBC channels, C4, E4, More 4 and Film 4, together with digital stations.
For an extra £9.99 per month, students can subscribe to Freewire Extra which provides 19 additional premium channels, including Setanta Sports, FX, Living and MTV.
Freewire International is also available on a subscription basis, providing specialist language channels including Zee TV, B4U and Sony Entertainment TV.
Inuk Networks plans to add additional premium channels and content to its Freewire TV service. It is also planning a residential service through a partnership with Cable & Wireless.
