BBC iPlayer hits seventeen million
by David Allen

In less than two months the BBC iPlayer has been used more than seventeen million times to watch some of the programmes that have already been shown on the channels up to seven days before. The creation of the iPlayer has also increased traffic to the BBC website by other twenty nine per cent for the year ending in January.
The most popular shows downloaded so far are Torchwood, Doctor Who and Ashes to Ashes, with each getting around 50,000 views per day.
The iPlayer receives around 1.3 million unique users a week and on some days the amount of downloads per day sometimes reach around 500,000. Another idea that is being announced is that the iPlayer will soon be made available for the Apple iPhone and iPod; this is expected to take place over the next couple of weeks or so.
