Government looks into broadband barriers

Government looks into broadband barriers<br />

The government is to launch new independent review on what exactly are the barriers that could potentially hold up the rolling out of new high speed and next generation broadband networks. The government are worried about this because they feel that failure to find a suitable solution for these problems could actually have an effect on the economic success in the future.

What this review will be looking at is the way that the whole industry is reacting to the problem, this would involve the private sector which is the companies that will need to make serious investments in bringing the telecom infrastructure right up to date, Ofcom who will ensure that they have enough bite in order to enforce the powers that they have and other barriers, such as finance, content and anything else that could bee seen as threat to seeing this through.

The review is due to publish the report in the autumn of this year, and is planned to compliment the review that Ofcom has produced which reviews that next generation access, what happens after that is anyone’s guess.
